Overview / Job Description

Codekeeper is seeking an Experienced Back End Engineer (Ruby Stack) to develop and maintain scalable applications for its SaaS software escrow platform. This fully remote role involves working across the full software development lifecycle, building new product features, maintaining high-quality backend systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams using a Ruby on Rails and React technology stack hosted on AWS.

The ideal candidate is a proactive software engineer with strong Ruby expertise, experience building scalable applications, and a passion for delivering clean, maintainable code in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

Backend Development

• Develop new features for the company’s SaaS application
• Build and maintain scalable backend services using Ruby on Rails
• Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment
• Ensure applications remain reliable, secure, and high-performing

Software Engineering

• Write clean, well-structured, maintainable, and testable code
• Develop lightweight, scalable software solutions
• Support code quality through testing and best engineering practices
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions

Product Development

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver new functionality
• Follow established product development processes and interaction designs
• Evaluate implementation approaches and recommend effective technical solutions
• Take ownership of assigned features and technical decisions

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with developers and stakeholders throughout development
• Contribute ideas that improve application architecture and development workflows
• Adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

Experience

• Experience developing backend applications using Ruby on Rails
• Experience participating in the full software development lifecycle
• Experience building scalable web applications

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in Ruby, Python, or Node.js
• Strong expertise in Ruby on Rails
• Familiarity with AWS
• Working knowledge of React
• Strong understanding of backend application architecture
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent English communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in remote teams
• Adaptability and ability to manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building SaaS products
