Overview / Job Description

Coalition Technologies is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Remote BigCommerce Developer to build, customize, optimize, and maintain high-performing eCommerce websites on the BigCommerce platform. This full-time, fully remote role focuses on developing custom BigCommerce solutions, improving website performance, integrating third-party applications, and delivering responsive, scalable eCommerce experiences.

The ideal candidate has strong expertise in BigCommerce Stencil, Storefront GraphQL APIs, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern front-end development. The role requires excellent collaboration skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced remote environment.

Responsibilities

BigCommerce Development

• Develop and customize eCommerce websites on the BigCommerce platform
• Build custom BigCommerce themes using the Stencil framework
• Create custom widgets and reusable front-end components
• Develop dynamic features using the Storefront GraphQL API
• Work with Handlebars, front matter, Storefront APIs, and Stencil util-APIs
• Upgrade BigCommerce stores from Blueprint to the Stencil framework
• Extend platform functionality through APIs and custom development

Website Optimization & Integrations

• Migrate websites from other eCommerce platforms to BigCommerce
• Integrate third-party applications and BigCommerce-supported tools
• Configure payment gateways, shipping methods, taxes, and other eCommerce settings
• Optimize websites for page speed, SEO, performance, and conversion rate optimization (CRO)
• Convert PSD designs into responsive, pixel-perfect HTML5/CSS3 templates
• Develop responsive and cross-browser compatible websites

Project Management & Collaboration

• Manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
• Produce high-quality work with strong attention to detail
• Communicate regularly with project managers, designers, developers, and team leads
• Provide workflow improvement suggestions and technical feedback
• Collaborate to achieve project goals and timely delivery

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of BigCommerce website development experience
• Strong experience developing custom BigCommerce themes and functionality
• Experience with custom widgets and reusable front-end components
• Experience working with Storefront APIs and Stencil util-APIs
• Experience using version control systems such as Git or SVN
• Experience working in remote development environments

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of the BigCommerce platform
• Expertise in the BigCommerce Stencil framework
• Proficiency with Storefront GraphQL API
• Expert knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES5/ES6), and jQuery
• Strong understanding of responsive web design and cross-browser compatibility
• Knowledge of W3C standards, semantic HTML, and accessibility best practices
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multicultural remote teams

Preferred Skills

• BigCommerce certification
• Experience with WordPress, Magento, or Shopify
• Experience with ReactJS or AngularJS
• Knowledge of PHP, MySQL, and AJAX
• Familiarity with SEO and CRO best practices
