Overview / Job Description

Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization focused on maximizing impact through digital marketing and outreach. The organization leverages the Google Ad Grant program as a key growth channel, utilizing up to $40,000 per month in advertising credits to drive awareness, engagement, and conversions aligned with its mission.

The PPC Specialist will be responsible for managing the organization’s Google Ad Grants account end-to-end, ensuring it remains compliant, active, and highly optimized. This role requires a strong balance of performance marketing expertise and strict policy adherence, with a focus on maximizing utilization of ad credits while maintaining long-term account health and sustainability.

  • Fully remote
  • Working hours: 9 AM – 5 PM CT

Responsibilities

Compliance Management

  • Maintain full compliance with Google Ad Grants policies, including CTR requirements, keyword quality standards, and conversion tracking rules
  • Prevent violations such as low-quality keywords, non-compliant landing pages, or incorrect domain usage
  • Continuously monitor account health to avoid suspension risks
  • Ensure all campaigns meet ongoing Google program requirements

Active Account Management

  • Log into the Google Ads account daily to monitor performance and compliance
  • Perform regular optimizations at least every 7 days (ads, keywords, bids, and structure updates)
  • Maintain consistent account activity aligned with Google Ad Grant expectations

Keyword Management

  • Build and maintain high-quality, multi-word keyword lists aligned with the nonprofit’s mission
  • Remove single-word, generic, or low-quality keywords
  • Continuously refine keyword strategy based on performance data and search intent

Campaign Structure & Optimization

  • Maintain proper campaign structure (minimum of two ad groups per campaign and two ads per ad group)
  • Configure sitelink extensions and ad assets to improve performance and meet policy requirements
  • Optimize campaigns for CTR, engagement, and conversion performance
  • Ensure alignment between campaign structure and organizational goals

Conversion Tracking

  • Set up and maintain conversion tracking for key actions (donations, sign-ups, volunteer inquiries)
  • Ensure conversions are tracked accurately and consistently reported
  • Maintain at least one active conversion action at all times
  • Apply appropriate bidding strategies to optimize results

Website & Domain Compliance

  • Coordinate with web teams to ensure website compliance (HTTPS, speed, functionality, no broken links)
  • Ensure all ad traffic is directed to approved organization-owned domains
  • Manage Google approval requirements for any additional domains
  • Ensure landing pages comply with Ad Grant policies (including no AdSense violations)

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

  • Deliver weekly performance reports covering CTR, conversions, spend utilization, and compliance status
  • Provide clear insights and recommendations based on campaign performance
  • Maintain transparent communication with leadership regarding account health and optimization efforts

Requirements

Experience

  • Proven experience managing Google Ads campaigns (Google Ad Grants experience strongly preferred)
  • Google Ads certification (Search or equivalent) required
  • Experience with GA4 and conversion tracking setup
  • Strong background in search campaign optimization and account management

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of keyword research, search intent, and quality scores
  • Ability to write clear, concise, mission-aligned ad copy
  • High attention to detail with strong compliance awareness
  • Analytical mindset with ability to interpret performance data
  • Strong organizational skills and consistency in account management
  • Ability to manage structured, policy-driven advertising environments
  • Passion for mission-driven or nonprofit marketing work (preferred)
